Educator Conference – FAQ

Who should attend the educator conference?

Little Scientists Educator Conference is for all early year’s educators and teachers. Prior STEM knowledge is not required.

Is Sonic Boom NESA and TQI accredited?

Yes. Sonic Boom is NESA and TQI registered professional development.

Each day will contribute 5 hrs and 30 minutes of NESA registered PD and 5 hrs of TQI registered PD.

Is the conference venue (Sydney Uni) easy to get to via public transport?

Yes, the closest train station is Redfern and you can walk or catch a bus. Buses travel in both directions on Parramatta Road with stops at Sydney Uni. See our website for detailed information on the venue location.

Can I attend day one of the conference only?

Yes, you are welcome to attend day one only, although attending both days provides the opportunity to be part of our hands-on STEM workshops led by Little Scientists head trainers. See our website for the full program.

Can I attend just day two (the workshop day) of the conference only?

Due to the expected demand for the day two workshops, places are reserved for day one delegates only.

I have already completed a Little Scientist workshop; can I still attend the conference?

Yes of course! The conference is an extension of our STEM workshops and is designed to make some noise about STEM! It will take place over two days and discuss all things STEM and early childhood learning.

Day one is jam packed with inspiring keynote speakers and interesting breakout sessions. On day two we are offering three different educator STEM workshops, including our newest addition, Acoustics. You can view the full program here.

Do I need to select the breakout sessions I would like to attend on day one?

No, everyone will get to experience each session. Delegates will be divided into four groups and rotate through each session. See our program for details.

How and when do I select my day two workshop topic?

You will be asked to select which workshop you would like to attend on day two when you register for the conference.

Can I change the workshop I choose for day two?

Yes, we can transfer your registration to another workshop topic, subject to availability. Please contact us to request the change.

Will I receive a certificate for completing a STEM workshop on day two?

Yes, all workshops participants will receive a certificate of attendance for the workshop they successfully complete.

What time do I need to arrive on day one of the conference?

Registration opens at 8:30am at which time, light refreshments will be served. The conference will begin at 9am. On day two, registration opens at 8:30am with light refreshments served.

Will you provide transcripts from the keynote and breakout sessions?

Yes, summaries of the breakout sessions will be shared with you post conference, via email.

Will latecomers to the conference be admitted?

We encourage delegates to arrive from 8:30am to be relaxed and ready to go at 9am. If you arrive late don’t panic, one of our Little Scientist team will guide you to a seat in the main venue.

Can I take photographs during the conference?

You are welcome to take photos but as a courtesy to our speakers, please do not use flash photography.

I have special access requirements; can you provide information for me?

If you have any special access requirements, please contact us so we can provide assistance.

If the conference is fully booked will extra tickets be released?

Tickets are limited, so we recommend booking early to avoid missing out. Once the conference is fully booked, we will start a waitlist. You will be contacted by Little Scientists if a ticket becomes available.

I can no longer attend Sonic Boom. What are my options?

You can transfer your registration to a friend or colleague. Please contact us to let us know about the change, so we can re-issue the ticket. Alternatively, we can offer a refund up to 14 days prior to the conference.
