The crow and the pitcher

When a thirsty crow can’t get its beak inside a pitcher to drink the water, it collects pebbles and drops them into the pitcher. Once the water level has risen to the top, the clever crow finally manages to quench its thirst, proving that necessity is indeed the mother of invention.
Do the children want to pretend to be the crow and collect some pebbles to try this out themselves? What could they use instead of pebbles? Where else can they make water levels rise? Have they ever seen an animal solve a problem like this? Can they make up their own fable about what they observed?
