Going Places is a beautiful demonstration of children’s creativity and their natural ability to think outside the box.

The annual go-cart race is just around the corner and every child gets the same go-cart building kit with the same content and instructions. Who is going to win the race?

While everyone else is busy building their go-carts, a bird in the tree catches Maya’s attention and she is mesmerized by its beauty. She observes the bird carefully and seems to have totally forgotten about the go-cart race.

Maya’s friend Rafael can’t believe his eyes when he visits her before racing day. The cart doesn’t look like anything he has ever seen before. Maya followed her own imagination instead of the kit’s instructions in her attempt to fly like the bird she observed. It comes as no surprise that Maya’s flying go-cart wins the race.

Celebrate children’s imagination and inventiveness by holding a race in your service (maybe a boat race instead) and let the children choose the materials for it. Which boat floats and which sinks? Which is faster and why? What improvements can the children make to their boats?
