Showing that there are different ways of expressing love, this is the story of a man who builds many different things – from castles to kites – from boxes for his son to enjoy: “They had found a special way of sharing their love for each other.”
This lovely story offers a great opportunity to explore relationships, family, love and being different alongside an abundance of STEM topics, such as shapes and sizes, engineering, design and sustainability. We don’t usually think of engineering as an expression of love, do we? What if everything in the world was built to make others happy? Can you love things the same way as people? Have you ever seen a round box? What would you like to build from boxes? What can you make for people you love to enjoy?
With our book recommendations, we want to spark an interest in children to discover STEM in their everyday lives. Most books go beyond the obvious STEM connections and can be a great starting point for exploring children’s questions and ideas further.
