“What shall we build you and I?
I’ll build your future and you’ll build mine.”
What we’ll build is the story about a father and daughter exploring the endless possibilities and adventures that they enjoy as they build their lives together.
At the beginning of the story, father and daughter look at their toolbox with all the tools for building a home. They start building a door, symbolic of the many doors we can open for our children as parents and educators. Once the home is finished they invest their time in the importance of building love, hope, resilience and forgiveness, and the reader soon realises that the real ‘tools’ we need as parents and educators are trust, comfort, compassion and unconditional love.
With our book recommendations, we want to spark an interest in children to discover STEM in their everyday lives. Most books go beyond the obvious STEM connections and can be a great starting point for exploring children’s questions and ideas further.
