Workshop

Terms & Conditions

Little Scientists Australia (Little Scientists) is a not-for-profit initiative of FROEBEL, delivered in cooperation with the Haus der kleinen Forscher Foundation (the Little Scientists House Foundation) in Germany. Little Scientists’ mission is to champion inquiry-based STEM education for all children aged 0-8 years in Australia by training early childhood educators and teachers in early STEM teaching skills and knowledge at our professional development workshops.

These Terms and Conditions (Terms) below set out the agreement between the in-person Workshop attendee (you or Attendee) and Little Scientists and FROEBEL (us, we, our). These Terms apply to all in-person Workshops (Workshops) arranged or hosted by Little Scientists that you attend. By registering to attend a Workshop, you agree to be bound by these Terms. 1. In-person Workshop Bookings

1.1 Confirmation of Booking
(a) Individual bookings: To secure your place, you must book through our online booking system and pay the Workshop Fee (as set out in clause 2 below) in advance. A booking will only be confirmed once payment has been received and cleared.
(b) In-service bookings: A Workshop will be confirmed once you have accepted the in-service Workshop quotation in writing.

1.2 Attendee Numbers
The number of Attendees per Workshop is capped at 20, unless otherwise approved in writing by Little Scientists. If more than 20 Attendees are requested, prior written approval and a revised quotation are required.

1.3 Workshop Duration
Unless otherwise specified, Workshops run for 3.5 hours (including a 30-minute break). Catering is not provided.

1.4 Changes to Workshop Times
Little Scientists reserves the right to change the start and finish times of a Workshop. Attendees will be notified as soon as practicable of any change.


2. Workshop Fees

2.1 Standard Fees
The standard price for one ticket to an in-person Workshop is $215 (including GST) per Attendee (“Standard Price”).

2.2 In-service Fees
In-service Workshop fees are determined by the number of tickets purchased and are disclosed on the Little Scientists website.


3. Participation

3.1 Attendance
To fully benefit from the Workshop, you are expected to arrive on time and remain until the scheduled finish time. If you arrive late or leave early, you must do so quietly to minimise disruption.

3.2 Notification of Absence
You must inform the facilitator prior to the Workshop if you anticipate arriving late, leaving early, or causing any disturbance.


4. Certificate of Attendance

4.1 Eligibility
Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance for each Workshop successfully completed.

4.2 Attendance Requirement
If an Attendee participates in less than 70% of a Workshop, no certificate of attendance or accompanying Program Materials will be provided.


5. Postponement & Cancellation by Little Scientists

5.1 Postponement
We reserve the right to postpone or cancel a Workshop (e.g. due to insufficient registrations or trainer illness).

5.2 Refund or Alternative
If we cancel a Workshop after confirming your place, we may offer to transfer your ticket to an alternative Workshop date. If you are unable to make this rescheduled date, we will refund you the Workshop Fee.


6. Cancellation, Change of Date, & Non-Attendance

6.1 Individual Bookings
Confirmed individual bookings require at least 14 days’ notice (by email or phone) to cancel and request a refund.

6.2 In-service Bookings (by a client organisation)
(a) Rescheduling by Little Scientists: If we need to reschedule due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g. trainer illness, severe weather), both parties will make reasonable efforts to agree on a new date. Where rescheduling is due to internal reasons, Little Scientists will bear unrecoverable costs (e.g. flights, accommodation).
(b) Rescheduling by the Client: If the client requests a change of date, the client is responsible for all unrecoverable costs incurred by Little Scientists.
(c) Cancellations by the Client: Refunds will be provided as follows:

  • 30+ days prior: Full refund, less unrecoverable costs (e.g. flights, accommodation).

  • 15–29 days prior: Refund, less unrecoverable costs and $550 trainer fee.

  • 0–14 days prior: Refund, less unrecoverable costs and $1,000 trainer and administration fee.

6.3 Non-Attendance

If a client or Attendee fails to attend a confirmed Workshop without prior notice, no refund will be issued and the full Workshop Fee remains payable.


7. Program and Venue Variation

7.1 Venue Changes
We may change the venue of the Workshop for any reason.

7.2 Program Changes
We may vary the Workshop program where necessary to deal with unforeseen circumstances, provided the content is not substantially altered.


8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Ownership
All Little Scientists IP is either owned by FROEBEL or by Haus der kleinen Forscher Foundation. FROEBEL holds a licence to exploit the Little Scientists IP in Australia.

8.2 Restrictions on Use
You must not:
(a) Contest or impair the ownership or rights in Little Scientists IP;
(b) Represent that you hold any ownership interest in the IP.

8.3 Program Materials
You may only use Program Materials in accordance with these Terms. You must not copy, alter, adapt, modify, publish, or distribute Program Materials except as expressly permitted. All Program Materials must be acknowledged as being used under licence from FROEBEL.

8.4 Infringement
If you become aware of any unauthorised possession, use, or infringement of the Program Materials or Trade Marks, you must notify us immediately with full particulars.


9. Limitation of Liability

9.1 Exclusion of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Little Scientists excludes liability for any direct, indirect, special or consequential loss, including loss of profit, data, or business opportunity, arising from or in connection with a Workshop.

9.2 Prescribed Terms
Except as required under Prescribed Terms and express warranties in these Terms, all other warranties and conditions are excluded.

9.3 Definition
“Prescribed Terms” means non-excludable terms implied by law in relation to goods or services, which may only be excluded or limited to the extent permitted by law.

9.4 Limitation
Where Prescribed Terms apply, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.


10. Indemnity

10.1 Indemnity Obligation
You must indemnify Little Scientists, its personnel, and Third Parties (Local Network Partners) against all losses, damages, costs, or claims arising from:
(a) Material breach of these Terms or law by you or your Attendees;
(b) Death, injury, or property damage arising from your performance;
(c) Failure to exercise reasonable care in fulfilling obligations;
(d) Costs and expenses of defending or settling any related claim.


11. Warranties

11.1 Exclusion
Subject to clause 11.2, Workshops and Program Materials are provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

11.2 Statutory Guarantees
Where guarantees cannot be excluded by law, our liability is limited to the Registration Fees paid.


12. Disclaimer

12.1 Use of Materials
Workshops may involve water, dyes, paints, chemicals, art tools and other materials, all of which are used at your own risk.

12.2 Exclusion of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Little Scientists disclaims liability for:
(a) Injury or property loss before, during, or after a Workshop on premises we control;
(b) Negligent acts or omissions by us or our personnel;
(c) Breach of contractual, statutory, or occupier’s duties;
(d) Any other liability arising from your participation in a Workshop or entry to our premises.


13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales and applicable laws of the Commonwealth of Australia. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and Federal courts of appeal.


14. Entire Agreement

These Terms supersede all prior oral or written agreements in relation to their subject matter and constitute the entire agreement between the parties.


15. Privacy

We will handle your personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We may use your details to send information about current or future products related to Workshops. You may request removal from our contact list at any time.

15.1 Media Consent
Facilitators may take photos and/or videos of participants for promotional purposes (e.g. social media, website). If you do not consent, you must inform the trainer at any time during the Workshop.


16. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is unenforceable in a jurisdiction, that provision is ineffective only to the extent of unenforceability and does not affect the remaining provisions.
