STEM education is so much more than factual answers to complex questions and Little Scientists will show you how easy and uncomplicated it can be.
In a series of live online workshops, Little Scientists will introduce the concepts, methods and skills to early childhood teachers and educators. We will show you some simple techniques to cultivate children’s skills and excitement for STEM exploration, and our hands-on session will enrich your repertoire of STEM activities.
Little Scientists is working on making our online content accessible for all. Our webinars and online workshops now have an option for participants to choose live transcriptions. All constructive feedback regarding the accessibility or usability of our website and services is welcome and will be carefully considered.
4-5.30pm - 11 & 18 May 2023 (2-part online workshop)
Come and investigate with us the creatures that used to call Australia home and their habitats. From famous fossil sites across Australia to the wombat-like diprotodon and other mega fauna, we will explore practical, hands-on ways of investigating Australia’s findings in the fossil record. We will suggest hands-on investigations and other ways of sparking not only children’s but your own curiosity.
What is megafauna? Did mammoths roam Australia? What was in their place? How can we approach meaningful explorations of these big, important topics? How did the climate at the time affect these amazing animals? What Australian dinosaurs have been found so far and what do we know about them?
4-5.30pm - 7 & 10 August 2023 (2-part online workshop)
This year’s National Science Week is all about artificial intelligence. At Little Scientists, we’re exploring robotics education in this special interactive online workshop exploring: What exactly is a robot? Can we teach a robot to make toast? What will happen if we get a bug in our code?
In this hands-on online workshop, Little Scientists will introduce you to the topics of robotics, coding, and programming — without the need for specialised equipment and devices. You’ll learn the concepts, methods, and skills behind inquiry-based STEM education within the robotics context and come away with simple techniques to cultivate children’s excitement for STEM exploration.

Blast off in time for Space Week. Come explore space with us – from Earth to the beyond. You will be delighted and inspired by our hands-on, inquiry-based approach to STEM learning.
Young children are full of questions about the world they live in: “Can you blow bubbles in Space?” “What’s the Moon made of?” “Why do astronauts float?” – Have you ever wondered how to answer their big questions?
4-5.30pm - 9 & 16 November 2023 (2-part online workshop)
Come and investigate with us the creatures that call Australia home and their habitats. Experience practical, hands-on advice on the creation of habitats in an early childhood setting and investigations into animal adaptations to Australian conditions with musical and literacy links.
